Grand Street, Revisited

Art Exhibit at Madison Community Arts Center

February 4-9, 2024, 10 Kings Rd, Madison, NJ, 07940

Grand Street, Revisited, is a hybrid chapbook of prose, poetry, and visual art. This tiny volume underscores the idea that the truth of art can transcend its medium, creating fruitful and valuable conversations among its pieces.

Author Paul Rabinowitz invites his readers to ponder the role of history and memory in Grand Street, Revisited. Rabinowitz’s narrative empowers us to recall our own cherished trajectories as we tangle with profound matters, such as what is and is not fiction and why it might, or night not, matter.

Visual artist Anna Hershinow invites viewers into her eight large scale abstract paintings, uniquely inspired by each of Rabinowitz's writings. Vivid colors, maximalist layering, and juxtaposition of organic shapes and graphic elements lends itself Rabinowitz's emotive and narrative storytelling.

Grand Street, Revisited

Grand Street, Revisited, is the culmination of a year's long interdisciplinary collaboration between myself and author Paul Rabinowitz. In undertaking this project, both Paul and I decided to work in parallel to one another, creating two bodies of work, both entitled Grand Street, Revisited. This project underscores the idea that the truth of art can transcend its medium, creating fruitful and valuable conversations among its pieces.

Each of these eight pieces are directly and uniquely inspired by Paul's words...
